Newcastle United are ready to make Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Matheus Cunha their top transfer target this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Arsenal and Manchester United have also been credited with interest in Cunha, while Nottingham Forest want to sign him to reinforce their squad as they prepare to return to Europe.
This has not deterred Newcastle from conceiving plans to sign the Brazilian international forward to bolster Eddie Howe’s squad.
After initially struggling to settle into life in the Premier League in 2022/23, Cunha took the English top flight by storm last season.
He bagged 12 goals and seven assists as Wolves finished in 14th place. Cunha is a massive reason why Wolves are 12 points clear of the relegation zone this term.
Newcastle could pair Cunha and Alexander Isak in attack, potentially forming one of the most fearsome striking duos in the Premier League.
The Magpies are on course to qualify for the Champions League, which would be an appealing prospect for the Brazilian forward.
Cunha has admitted he wants to join a more ambitious club this summer. He reportedly has a £62 million release clause, which Newcastle can activate.
The Magpies could try to negotiate a lower fee to avoid problems with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
