Marcus Rashford’s first words after joining Barcelona – ‘Flick key reason for me coming here’ | OneFootball

After a long wait, FC Barcelona have finally announced the signing of Marcus Rashford from Manchester United.

The 27-year-old Englishman arrives from the Red Devils on a season-long loan deal with a non-mandatory buy option worth €30 million.

Having arrived in Barcelona on Sunday and completed his medicals on Monday, Rashford has been working and training at the club facilities since and finally signed his contract with Barcelona president Joan Laporta today.

Rashford’s first words

Having completed the contract signing at the club facilities, Rashford briefly interacted with Barcelona’s official media channels, sharing his thoughts on the move.

“I’m very excited. Many people dream of playing here; it means a lot. Barça is a club where dreams come true. They win many trophies, and the club’s values mean a lot to me,” he said.

“I feel at home here; it’s a very family-oriented club. I always try to make decisive, quick, and dynamic moves, and I’ve always loved good football. That’s why, since I was little, I’ve loved watching Barça, just like all football fans.”

Continuing, Rashford added: “They won a ton of titles last year, and I can see they’re ambitious to win more this year, very excited.

“I think it’s a club every player wants to play for. They’ve made me feel at home in these first few hours; everyone has made me feel very comfortable.”

Rashford also credited manager Hansi Flick for his move to Barcelona, saying: “One of the key reasons for me coming here was him (Hansi Flick), the conversation I had with him was very positive.

“I’m eager to get started and learn from the ‘Barça method.’ He’s one of the great coaches. Last season, he did an incredible job with a young team, with many successes.”

Thanking the fans for their support, he concluded by saying: “I thank the fans for the welcome and hope you enjoy it. It’s my first time here, and the first game will be a special moment.”
