The current objective for FC Barcelona moving forward is to wrap up registrations as soon as possible. Unfortunately, a lack of proper planning made this issue a big deal last summer and the club wishes to avoid it this time. However, there is still a lot of work left to do for Barcelona.
Currently, the club is reportedly focusing on the registration of Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia. In fact, the Catalan side is looking to accelerate the whole process and even held a lengthy meeting with the player’s representatives recently.

However, one of the key factors that could help in making that process easily was the possible surgery of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. The German goalkeeper is now set to undergo a surgery that is expected to keep him sidelined for a few months, and that in turn could potentially help Barça register Joan Garcia.
Yet, there are certain complications and complexities that would dictate the usefulness of his absence for the registration itself. Only if the player is sidelined for around four months or more can the club use 80% of his salary space for another player’s registration.
However, that now seems to have created a problem for Barça as the player has announced in a statement of his own that he will likely be out for only three months. This post of his, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, has taken Barcelona by surprise.
Originally, the report claims that Barcelona and the club captain were supposed to release the statements concerning his decision to undergo surgery simultaneously. However, Ter Stegen ended up doing it before Barcelona and even mentioned the time it would take for him to recover.
Barça’s statement, on the other hand, does not provide a clear return date for the veteran. While it is possible that this is simply some case of miscommunication, the recent tensions between La Blaugrana and the German goalkeeper could suggest even deeper issues and problems being on display.
