Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner says that the club are still looking to add a couple of forward players in the current transfer window.

The Red Devils have made just the two signings so far in midfielder Julia Zigiotti Olme and forward Fridolina Rolfö.

Manchester United have recently been linked with RB Leipzig forward Giovanna Hoffman, although a deal has not been forthcoming. When speaking in a club press conference, Manchester United boss Skinner admitted that bolstering his side’s attacking ranks is still a top priority.

“We need to bring in a forward in this window, potentially two,” Skinner said. “I’m probably looking for two players in this window while we’ve got time left.

“Giovanna’s one of the players that we looked at but at the moment, I don’t think the valuation [is acceptable], we are meeting in the middle. Right now, it doesn’t look like something that will happen.

“I must stress that we are looking in those forward areas, so that we have an array of options.”

While Manchester United haven’t completed their recruitment, Skinner is happy with what has been added to the squad so far.

He said “I’m really happy with the two players that we’ve brought in so far. Last year, the theme was bringing in young and hungry talent whereas this year, we’ve wanted to add depth in terms of experience as well. When you have young talented players, they grow and grow but you also need that balance and experience.

“Bringing Frido [Rolfö] and Julia [Zigiotti Olme] in, they’re two great players that will add quality to the group.”

Manchester United return to competitive action tomorrow when they face PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Women’s Champions League’s second qualifying round. Skinner says that preparation has been tough but his side are ready for the challenge.

He said “At this stage, after a long EUROs, players are all in different spaces and at different fitness levels. Right now, you’ve got to go into this first tough game ready and I think we are.

“I wouldn’t expect us to be firing on all cylinders yet but I am really excited from what I’ve seen in training. Players have eased straight back in, ready for the season.”

Manchester United’s UEFA Women’s Champions League second qualifying round fixture against PSV Eindhoven kicks-off at 11am tomorrow.
