As reported yesterday, Dani Olmo of RB Leipzig is one of the priority targets for FC Barcelona this summer.

The Blaugrana are working towards finalising his signing while the player, for his part, is keen on making the jump and is confident that the deal will go through before July 14 – a day before his €60 million release clause expires.

Manchester City interfere

However, now, SPORT reports that Premier League champions Manchester City could interfere with Barcelona’s plans to sign Dani Olmo.

Indeed, Pep Guardiola’s side are interested in signing the Spanish international as a possible replacement for Bernardo Silva or Kevin De Bruyne, two of their main protagonists for years.

De Bruyne, entering the final year of his contract at the Etihad, has emerged as a top target for Saudi Arabian clubs while Silva, valued at €60 million, is also attracting interest.

If Manchester City finalise either of those exits, they intend to make a move for Olmo, although at this point they do not the Spaniard’s signing as urgent.

Barcelona see Olmo as priority

Unlike Manchester City, though, Barcelona’s interest in Olmo is much more concrete with the sports management staff, led by director Deco, seeing the 26-year-old as a priority signing for the summer.

As such, they are already working with Olmo and RB Leipzig towards finalising a deal that would be beneficial for all parties involved.

The versatile attacker, who can play anywhere across the frontline, as a No. 10, or an interior midfielder, welcomes a return to his boyhood club, having admitted in a recent interview that it was an option.

With Manchester City entering the picture, Barcelona must work fast to close the signing of the Spanish international or risk losing him to Guardiola’s side.
