Man City have reportedly agreed to send Claudio Echeverri on loan to Bayer Leverkusen as new signing Sverre Nypan has been loaned out to Middlesbrough.

Echeverri joined City on a four-year contract from River Plate in January 2024, but remained there on loan until January of this year.

The 19-year-old made his debut for the club in the FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace and made his first appearance in the Premier League on the final day of last season against Fulham.

Man City agree Echeverri loan deal with Leverkusen

Echeverri will continue his development at Leverkusen this season after Man City “agreed” on a “straight loan”, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The move does not include a buy option and the German outfit will cover his salary in full. He is due to undergo medical tests on Tuesday night.

Borussia Dortmund had also submitted an offer for the Argentine youngster, but Echeverri has been “informed” he will be going to Leverkusen, according to Sky Germany.

New Man City signing completes Boro transfer

It’s not the only transfer business City have conducted today, as the club announced that Sverre Nypan has joined Middlesbrough on loan.

The Norwegian teenager joined City from Rosenborg this summer in a £12.5 million deal. He made his professional debut at the age of 15, becoming the club’s youngest ever debutant and the youngest to ever start a match in the Eliteserien.

Ederson staying?

Meanwhile, Man City goalkeeper Ederson may not be headed to Galatasaray after the Turkish club submitted a bid for FC Porto’s Diogo Costa.

Sky Germany report that Galatasaray have offered £17.3m (€20m) plus bonuses for the Portugal international, who has also been linked with Premier League teams.

Ederson remains “priority” for Gala, but a deal with City is “not yet in sight”. Costa is currently their “top alternative target”.

The Brazilian shot stopper was left out of the matchday squad for City’s opening weekend win over Wolves amid the speculation surrounding his future. The club says his absence was due to illness.

Man City and Pep Guardiola are reluctant to lose Ederson, despite signing James Trafford from Burnley this summer while also having Stefan Ortega in the first-team squad.
