Manchester City supporters could see both of their mainstay first-team goalkeepers leave the club this summer as part of a major shake-up in Pep Guardiola’s side.

The latest information comes as reports elsewhere indicated a transfer interest from Manchester City in Benfica’s Anatoliy Trubin, with suggestions being that officials from the Etihad Stadium are set to open talks over the idea of a transfer for the player.

That line of reporting has suggested to many that there could be changes in the goalkeeping department at the Etihad Stadium this summer, with uncertainty long-standing over Ederson and Stefan Ortega Moreno.

The former has endured a much more complex campaign this time around in comparison to his previous seasons, as he continues to suffer from niggling muscular problems that have prevented long runs as first-choice goalkeeper throughout the season.

As for Stefan Ortega Moreno, and despite his increased number of opportunities as a result of Ederson’s injury-induced absences, the German goalkeeper remains set on becoming a top-level number one choice stopper in European football.

And it is for those reasons that place both of Manchester City’s leading goalkeeping duo into doubt when it comes to their futures at the Etihad Stadium beyond the course of the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to the information of Football Transfers’ Steve Kay, number one choice Ederson is attracting serious transfer attention once again with his former club Benfica weighing up a shock move to bring the Brazilian back to Lisbon.

Elsewhere, it is also being claimed that Stefan Ortega Moreno is being eyed by several clubs across Europe, and some may expect that given the German’s desire to become a number one choice himself, that may lead to interest in an exit from Manchester City.

For now, it remains to be seen whether Manchester City themselves would be open to the idea of a sale of either goalkeeper this summer, although their stance on outgoing moves has been the same in previous markets.

City tend to adopt the same approach when it comes to all of their players, refusing to stand in the way of an exit providing their representatives can either bring a suitable offer to the table from a buying club, or a potential suitor offered the right proposal initially themselves.

Several of Manchester City’s academy goalkeepers have already made the step up into first-team involvement throughout the course of the ongoing season, with development paths firmly in place for the likes of Spike Brits, Oliver Whatmuff, and Max Hudson.
