Liverpool have included an unspecified buyback clause into the sale of Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen.
Quansah is on the verge of completing a transfer to the Bundesliga side for an initial fee of £30m. The defender departs for Germany in search of regular first-team football after totalling just 489 minutes in the Premier League last season.
Quansah is currently with the England u-21 side at the u-21 European Championship, with Leverkusen directors Simon Rolfes and Kim Falkenberg in attendance as the Young Lions beat Spain on Sunday to reach the semi-finals. The transfer will be formally completed at the conclusion of the tournament.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Liverpool have inserted a buyback clause into the sale and will keep a close eye on Quansah’s development at the BayArena.
The Reds will step up efforts to sign a replacement in the coming days with Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi a player of interest. Liverpool have also tracked Ajax teenager Jorell Hato and RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba in recent months.
