Liverpool have confirmed a new contract for forward Cody Gakpo.
The Dutchman has been at Anfield since early 2023 and his previous deal ran until 2028. Without much fanfare or build-up, the club announced a new deal for the Netherlands international on Saturday.

Gakpo’s previous deal was reported to be worth around £120k per week - and the new end date for his new terms has not yet been disclosed.
The new contract confirms Gakpo’s place in the Anfield pecking order. He has started the season as one of Arne Slot’s key starters.
He has seen off competition from Luis Diaz to become the Reds’ chief left-wing option - with the Colombian joining Bayern Munich over the summer.
Ironically it was Diaz who was agitating for a new deal - with his contract expiring in 2027 and the player unhappy with his previous pay packet.
But the new deal for Gakpo confirms his status in the squad. The 26-year-old left former club PSV in January 2023 for Anfield - costing around £35m.
“It feels amazing to extend the contract here at this beautiful club. I’m very grateful and hopefully I can give back many more beautiful moments,” the Premier League title winner told the club’s official website.
“I feel at home, my family feels at home and that’s also a big decision always. They feel good. I’m very happy at the club, a good group, good teammates, so the life around the football itself is very good and I enjoy every moment of it. I’m very grateful that I can extend.”

Fans were also expecting a new contract announcement for another left winger in the shape of Rio Ngumoha but it looks like that wait will go on a little longer.
Ngumoha, 17, celebrated his birthday on Friday - becoming eligible for his first pro deal. The England youth had a dream week - scoring the winner in the Premier League victory against Newcastle - and looks set to be Gakpo’s deputy for the season ahead.
Liverpool have declined to add a new left winger to the squad this summer - despite links to Rodrygo Goes and Bradley Barcola. Instead it looks like Gakpo will be first choice and the remaining minutes will go to Ngumoha.
