Kerkez Edges Closer to Anfield Move Amid Talks with Bournemouth

Personal Terms Agreed as Liverpool Close In

Liverpool’s summer business is starting to gain momentum, and Milos Kerkez appears next in line for a switch to Anfield. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Hungary international has already agreed personal terms with the Reds. The 21-year-old left-back is said to be “really convinced about the project” under new head coach Arne Slot, with Romano claiming “the contract is ready” and “everything is OK.”

Kerkez “can’t wait to become a Liverpool player,” Romano revealed in a YouTube update, adding “the feeling is positive.” That enthusiasm has sparked fresh optimism among the fanbase, who are eager to see Liverpool add depth and dynamism to the left side of their defence.

Transfer Progress Hinges on Club Agreement

While Kerkez’s commitment signals a green light from the player’s side, the deal’s completion still depends on negotiations between Liverpool and Bournemouth. Romano stated the two clubs are “discussing” terms, and “the understanding is that this deal is advancing behind the scenes.” With both sides active, he added, “the expectation is for this deal to advance fast in the next days, so Liverpool are really busy.”

Bournemouth are known to value Kerkez at £45 million, a figure that could spark debate behind closed doors. However, with Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes maintaining solid relationships across the Premier League landscape, dialogue remains open.

International Duties Could Delay Completion

Kerkez is due to join up with the Hungary national team on Sunday ahead of upcoming friendlies against Sweden on June 6 and Azerbaijan on June 10. While this international duty may delay the formalities, the groundwork has already been laid from the player’s perspective.

Despite the growing speculation, Kerkez remains grounded. Speaking to MLSZ TV, he said, “Of course, something always leaks into the news, I don’t know how. At the same time, I think it’s normal that if you play well and the team does well, then you get into the news and end up on the front page, and everyone talks about you. I see this as fuel that drives me forward. All this doesn’t break me, but it doesn’t ‘boost’ my ego either. It teaches me humility and motivates me.”

Liverpool Prioritise Youth and Potential

With Jeremie Frimpong’s move confirmed and talks ongoing with Bayer Leverkusen over Florian Wirtz, attention has now shifted back to Kerkez. His development, attitude and potential make him an ideal addition in a squad increasingly built on long-term vision and versatile options.

Kerkez’s online activity, including likes on posts linking him to Liverpool, has only intensified speculation. He has already hinted at a summer move, and the stars appear to be aligning. All that remains is a breakthrough in negotiations with Bournemouth — and another exciting chapter in Liverpool’s recruitment strategy could soon be written.
