Liverpool agree SIX-YEAR deal with centre-back | OneFootball

Liverpool have agreed a six-year deal with a centre-back. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the story.

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Giovanni Leoni from Parma. The 18-year-old is set to formally complete his move shortly.

"Giovanni Leoni has completed main part of his medical and signs his contract as new Liverpool player!” he wrote.

Leoni has been a key target of Liverpool’s over the last month or so, with a belief that he’s an incredible talent. In fact, one insider told Anfield Watch that he’s ‘an absolute joke’ of a player.

An amazing piece of business, then. Liverpool are in need of a new centre-back with Jarell Quansah having left the club without a replacement coming in.

Well, here's the replacement. Leoni is one of those truly special talents, holding down a Serie A starting spot at just 18.

Liverpool know that signing him now will also mean he becomes homegrown down the line - hence why a loan deal was not considered. Tying him down for six years right from the get-go also highlighting just how great the belief is in him.

An exciting one, then, but possibly not the end of Liverpool's transfer business. Maybe not even the end of their business at centre-back.

Marc Guehi is also very much on the agenda as the Reds think about signing him a year early. Guehi's contract expires in 2026.

But that brings about Ibrahima Konate talk. Konate is also out of contract next year and Real Madrid are very interested. Liverpool want to renew his contract - but it's unclear how likely that truly is.

Leoni, though, that one's certain. He's going to be a Red and we can't wait to see what he can do.
