Angers are reportedly willing to accept bids of £6 million for Leeds target Yahia Fofana.
Ligue 1 side Angers are believed to be willing to accept bids of £6 million for Leeds United target Yahia Fofana.
The Whites will be eager to get their summer transfer window plans in motion as they prepare for a return to the top-flight, with the goalkeeper position likely to be a priority addition.
A series of calamitous errors from Illan Meslier over the course of the Championship season led to Karl Darlow finishing the term between the sticks and helping the Whites dramatically lift the second tier title on the final day.
However, Leeds are believed to be keen on strengthening that area, with a safe pair of hands required if the Yorkshire outfit are to maintain their Premier League status at the first attempt.
From this, Leeds have been linked with a move for Angers shot-stopper Yahia Fofana earlier this summer, and the French side have now set a price tag to secure his services.
As per a report by Africa Foot, Angers are prepared to part ways with goalkeeper Yahia Fofana, with the club setting a price tag of £6 million for the Ivorian.
The shot-stopper played a pivotal role in keeping Angers in Ligue 1 last season, missing just one game all season.
Keeping seven clean sheets from 33 league games, Fofana enters the final year of his contract in France, and the club are seemingly unwilling to lose him on a free transfer the following term.
With the club willing to part ways, Africa Foot have also stated that Leeds are set to battle Newcastle United for Fofana, with the Magpies identifying alternative targets after struggling to negotiate a deal for Burnley’s James Trafford.
The Premier League duo are also facing emerging competition from overseas, with Serie A side Torino monitoring the situation and weighing up a move in the coming weeks.
Despite the best efforts of Karl Darlow at the back end of the season, the majority of Leeds fans would agree that the side needs someone between the posts who has more top-flight pedigree and is on the rise in his career.
Yahia Fofana possesses both those requirements, undergoing his first full season at Angers and cementing himself as the number one choice in Ligue 1.
At just 24, Fofana surely has a lot more to give, and a move to a club like the size of Leeds to taste Premier League football for the first time is something that will be very appealing to the Ivorian international.
With the strength of Leeds’ goalkeeping department quite weak, Fofana is likely to become the number one under Farke immediately, and it would be a great opportunity to make himself a big name if he could play a starring role in the Whites’ survival.
