Daniel Farke’s side are on the cusp of promotion to the Premier League, and if they do go up, they are expected to be very busy in the market as they look to strengthen their squad.

With Illan Meslier having struggled for form - which saw him lose his place to Karl Darlow earlier this month - the goalkeeping department is an area that Leeds will look to improve.

In a fresh development on Good Friday, Football Insider has claimed that Gunn is a target for the Whites.

They state that Leeds see the 15-cap Scotland international as someone who could come in and compete for the number one shirt, and he will provide good cover if he is a backup to another new signing.

It’s also said that this is a move Leeds will consider regardless of whether they are operating as a Premier League or Championship club next season.

Of course, the fact he will be available on a free transfer is an added bonus, with Gunn recently confirming he is yet to be offered a new deal by Norwich, despite featuring regularly for Johannes Hoff Thorup's side this season.

Gunn has largely been able to retain his starting role at Carrow Road this season, with George Long and Vicente Reyes also being handed sparing opportunities in the Norwich goal.

The Canaries have been struggling in their defensive department this term, however, and that could raise alarm bells for Leeds United supporters as to whether Gunn would be the right choice in their quest for a safe pair of hands this summer.

Leeds United must look to bring in a quality goalkeeper if they win promotion

It seems highly likely that Meslier will leave Elland Road this summer, and it’s arguably for the best for all parties, as he has struggled a lot this season.

So, Leeds are going to be in the market for at least one stopper, and Gunn is appealing in the sense that he has a lot of experience, he is at a good age, and he is available on a free.

Yet, if Farke’s side win promotion and have Gunn as their number one in the Premier League, it would raise concerns among the fans.

The 29-year-old is unproven at the highest level despite having been involved in three separate top flight campaigns with Norwich and Southampton respectively, and he hasn’t always convinced in the Championship, so it would be tough to say he could be the goalkeeper that helps establish Leeds in the Premier League.

Nevertheless, as a number two, he would be a smart addition, although Darlow could still do that role even in the top-flight.
