Juventus send a strong message on Vlahovic's future

Juventus are grappling with a significant dilemma involving Dusan Vlahovic, one that new general manager Damien Comolli inherits at a delicate moment for the club, according to Bianconera News and Tutto Juve. The arrival of Jonathan David from Lille has altered the attacking landscape in Turin and, in many ways, sharpened the uncertainty around Vlahovic’s future.

Vlahovic, who joined Juventus for a significant investment in the wake of Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit, has never truly seemed at ease as the Bianconeri’s leading striker. Despite flashes of quality, the relationship between player and club has often appeared pragmatic rather than passionate. Now, with David recruited as a key forward, Juventus are sending a clear signal: the squad can be reimagined without Vlahovic at the centre.

The crux of the issue is financial. Vlahovic is on a €12 million salary, a number that has become increasingly unpalatable for the club’s hierarchy, particularly as the Serbian striker nears the final year of his contract. According to Massimo Pavan, Vlahovic’s current plan is to let his contract expire and leave on a free transfer, collecting a lucrative signing-on fee in the process. He has already turned down several approaches, indicating a firm stance on controlling his next move.

This posture creates tension for Juventus. Running down the contract risks losing a major asset for nothing, a scenario that would be acutely felt after the heavy investment made to bring Vlahovic in from Fiorentina. Comolli faces the complex task of finding an acceptable solution, which may involve negotiating a separation before the start of next season’s preparations in late July. The club wants to avoid outright confrontation, but previous negotiations have come close to an impasse.

Potential solutions are on the table, but all present their own challenges. Milan are monitoring the situation, and an exit to a domestic rival would add a layer of disappointment to any outgoing deal. There is also reported interest from Al Hilal, but Vlahovic has so far been selective, having rejected numerous suitors already.

The broader message from Juventus is unmistakable: with David’s arrival, the attack has a new face, and the club is prepared to move forward regardless of the Vlahovic outcome. The situation, however, remains unresolved and carries significant implications for both sporting and financial planning at the club. Without compromise, Juventus risk being caught in a standoff with a player whose contract winds rapidly toward expiration.
