Manchester United return to pre-season training this week with Ruben Amorim having been granted just one addition to his first-team squad as things stand.

The United head coach is desperate to add more firepower to his ranks as the search for a proven centre-forward goes on for head figures at the club.

As ever, a raft of names are in the mix to bolster Amorim’s options but finding the right man, at the right price is never an easy task.

Juventus striker Dušan Vlahović is one of the high profile stars on the INEOS shortlist with the big striker seemingly on his way out of Turin.

As reported by Italian media, Vlahović’s agent is on his way to meet with the hierarchy at Juve with a view of negotiating a deal to end his time with the Serie A giants.

Talks are set to be centred around a severance package that suits the striker who was originally happy to see his contract out but recent events seem to have put pay to that.

The signing of Jonathan David coupled with Vlahović’s social media outburst after the Club World Cup exit to Real Madrid are sure sigs an end to the relationship is close.

Juve boss Igor Tudor left him out of the defeat to Madrid and with the arrival of David, Vlahović is clearly not a key part of the manager’s plans moving forward.

However, Vlahović is keen to ensure he gets what he wants before walking away and his representatives will be tasked with agreeing a suitable deal for all parties.

Given the circumstances, there may be scope for United to negotiate a transfer at a cut-price fee for the Serbian who would certainly be a handy option for Amorim heading into the new campaign.

Having notched over 50 goals for a mediocre Juve side over his three seasons in Turin, Vlahović does know where the net is and now has the experience of playing for a big club under his belt.

INEOS have registered their interest in the 25-year-old and will be keeping a close eye on any developments in the coming days with the potential of a move gathering pace relatively quickly once the scheduled meeting is concluded.

Amorim’s side kick off their pre-season fixtures against Leeds United in two weeks time and Amorim will no doubt love to have a new striker through doors before that time.
