Lot of hope was placed on Reinier when he joined Real Madrid in a €30 million deal from Flamengo, with many expecting him to follow in the footsteps of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo.

However, after five years at Real Madrid, the Brazilian is still yet to feature in a single game for Los Blancos and is now all set to leave the club on a permanent basis.

Reinier set for a move to Atletico Mineiro

According to Diario SPORT, Reinier is finally set for a move away from Santiago Bernabeu, with the player expected to join Atletico Mineiro.

It appears the playmaker is set to leave the club on a free transfer, which means Real Madrid have handed him a letter of freedom.

Reinier’s departure comes after a series of failed loan spells at various clubs, including Real Madrid, Frosinone, Girona and most recently, Granada.

Earlier in the summer, Reinier was linked with a move to Norwich City on a loan deal, but it appears the player is set for a return to his native Brazil.

It was reported recently that Atletico Mineiro had emerged as the best-placed club to sign the Brazilian, and it appears the move has now been confirmed.

Reinier will look to revive his career in Brazil after five tough years at Real Madrid. Atletico Mineiro, to that end, should give him the ideal opportunity to prove himself in the top-flight.

The former Dortmund starlet, who was likened to Kaka earlier in his career, will play under the leadership of experienced manager Cuca and alongside the likes of Hulk, who is the club captain.
