Blackburn could do with some more additions before the transfer window shuts.

It's largely been a summer of sales for Blackburn Rovers; a couple of their best players have been picked off by their Championship rivals, and some important players departed as free agents.

For the most part, Rovers have acted quickly to address any holes left in the squad by major losses.

Callum Brittain heads to Middlesbrough, they signed Lewis Miller from Hibernian. Lewis Travis is on his way to Derby County to reunite with John Eustace: 'Let's go get a deal done for Moussa Baradji', says Valerien Ismael.

By no means is it guaranteed that these replacement options will live up to their predecessors, and, in some cases, like with Tyrhys Dolan, there's not necessarily an arrival to Ewood Park that you can point at and say 'They are like-for-like.'

It's in those areas, and a couple of others, that Blackburn can look to target in the remaining days of the window.

If they were to pull off these two signings, the Rovers faithful may feel more optimistic about the rest of the season...

Ian Poveda

As is the case with most promoted sides, once they go up to the Premier League, they realise the base level of their squad is not good enough to compete at the highest level, and so cast-offs become available.

With Sunderland's situation, someone like Alan Browne might have been a good option to look at, both because of his technical ability, but also due to his leadership.

However, it feels very unlikely that Blackburn would bring in a long-serving captain of Preston North End in an attempt to fill the hole left by Travis, their previous skipper.

Another Black Cat - Ian Poveda - could be a smart option, though.

The 25-year-old winger has a number of seasons in the Championship under his belt, and is one of the players that is all but guaranteed to be available for a move away from the Stadium of Light this summer.

His direct goals and assist numbers don't leap off the page, but the connection he formed with the fans of Sheffield Wednesday, when he was on loan with them a couple of seasons ago, proves that this could end up being a popular, and potentially cost-effective, move for a Blackburn side that isn't brimming with creativity.

The key, of course, with Poveda is fitness. His lack of regular minutes in recent campaigns may be his biggest red flag.

On a temporary deal though, you can afford to slightly look past those things.

Jakob Breum

The aforementioned Dolan's departure from Ewood Park left quite a void in Ismael's squad, worse still, the fact that they got less than £500,000 in compensation for the 23-year-old from his new club, Espanyol.

He could play across the attacking-midfield line for Rovers. Breum, our next transfer suggestion for Rovers, offers a similar level of flexibility.

A 21-year-old Danish prospect, Breum racked up an impressive 10 goals and five assists last season for Go Ahead Eagles in the Netherlands' top-flight, in what was a breakout campaign for him.

Scottish champions Celtic have been linked with him this summer. They have tried to get Eagles to go ahead and drop their £6 million valuation of the creative midfielder - £5 million, plus £1 million in add-ons, as per the Scottish Herald - but they aren't budging.

While Blackburn aren't the richest club in the Championship, they may be able to stretch the budget slightly to snap up a talent like Breum before the window shuts in September.

Rovers wouldn't have long to complete a deal for Breum, and this is partly what is making Go Ahead apprehensive about letting him leave.
