It's been revealed that Gus Hamer could feature for Sheffield United against Middlesbrough, despite being linked with a move to Leeds United.
A fresh update on Gustavo Hamer's Sheffield United future has emerged, as Leeds United and PSV Eindhoven remain interested in signing the midfielder before the transfer window closes on Monday.
A shock revelation came via FourFourTwo on Friday that the Sheffield United star could be available with just days remaining in the transfer window, with a loan deal with an obligation to buy as a potential path out of Bramall Lane for Hamer.
The Yorkshire club have held firm on their stance when it comes to sanctioning the sale of the 28-year-old, and a number of Premier League clubs have reportedly passed up on the opportunity to sign him this summer.
However, the latest update from The Star has suggested that whilst an exit remains possible for Hamer, nothing is imminent, and the midfielder is expected to be involved as the Blades take on Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Hamer's future has quickly become the main focus for Sheffield United fans, as the clock ticks towards that 7pm deadline on Monday, which will bring sweet relief to the supporters if he remains at Bramall Lane come then.
It's been a problematic start to the season for the Steel City club, who have lost all three of their opening league matches, and currently sit rock bottom of the Championship table.
But it's not like they've been without their star man, as Hamer has been involved in all of United's fixtures so far, and even scored a wonder goal against Birmingham City in a first-round EFL Cup defeat.
Whilst some Blades supporters may have thought that they'd weathered the storm of interest in the 28-year-old this summer, the late news of a potential loan-to-buy deal has once again cast doubts over his future at Bramall Lane.
Leeds and PSV are both confirmed admirers according to FourFourTwo, and rumours spread on social media that the Premier League side were close to completing a deal to sign Hamer.
However, a fresh update from The Star will certainly soothe the minds of Sheffield United fans for now, as they've reported that the deal isn't close to being completed, and Hamer is expected to be a part of Ruben Selles' squad tomorrow.
The Blades travel to Teesside to take on Middlesbrough in the early kick-off on Saturday, and The Star has suggested that the reigning Championship Player of the Year will be making the trip to the Riverside Stadium.
If the latest update is proven to be true, then it will come as a temporary relief for the Sheffield United faithful, as they hope that when the clock hits 7pm on Monday, Hamer is still a Blades player.
However, being involved with his side against Middlesbrough doesn't necessarily guarantee that he will still be at Bramall Lane come Monday evening, as we've often seen how quickly things can move in the transfer market.
With nothing seemingly imminent according to the latest update, it seems that, unfortunately, for Blades supporters, the future of their key man could go right down to the wire if Leeds and PSV remain keen to get a deal done.
