Delap arrives at the club on a 6-year contract and Chelsea are paying the £30m release clause to sign which in reality, is an absolutely bargain in this day and age.

Chelsea fans know they have a top new talent coming in here, one that is still a bit raw and still developing, but one who has an incredibly high ceiling and so many top attributes for a number 9.

Jackson’s future in the air

There has been a number of different transfer rumours going around lately, some of them have been linking Nicolas Jackson with a potential move away from Chelsea this summer.

But what does the future hold for the striker? I think he’s been good but you can see that he’s felt the pressure as well at times and with Delap arriving, and potentially another striker, I could actually see him going you know.

Our writer Simon Phillips has the latest drop on the Nicolas Jackson story on his Substack site this week.

He says:

‘Chelsea do like Jackson but there has been a desire to upgrade him and bring more competition in. They believe that he doesn’t have enough to lead Chelsea in the Champions League right now so have looked to bring in others.

‘In terms of a selling standpoint, they will very much listen to any offers that come in without actively pushing to sell him.

‘And on the player side, he has been unhappy this season for various reasons, mainly due to what he feels has been unfair criticism and abuse from his own fans.

‘However, at this moment he has not yet communicated a desire to leave, although that could soon happen. Chelsea have not yet told him to find a new club and are unlikely to do so.

‘So who are those interested clubs?

‘SPTC sources have learned that four of them interested are Manchester United, Aston Villa, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid.’
