Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has made it clear that Fermin Lopez is not for sale, despite the Blaugrana receiving two offers worth almost €80 million for the midfielder.
According to SPORT, both Manchester United and Chelsea approached Barça in late July with official proposals, looking to secure one of Spain’s brightest young talents.
Inside the club, the size of the offers sparked serious debate. Given Barça’s ongoing financial challenges and strict salary cap restrictions, several voices on the board considered accepting the deal.
Selling Fermin would have instantly solved a large part of the club’s economic problems. However, Flick stepped in to veto the transfer, insisting that the midfielder is key to his project at the Camp Nou.
The manager even went as far as to tell the board that if financial fair play prevented new signings, he would accept that, but he would not accept the loss of Fermin.

This stance proved decisive, with Barça officially rejecting the Premier League proposals and closing the door on the player’s exit.
The interest in Fermin is not new. Weeks before the English giants came forward, a Saudi Arabian club had also tabled a massive offer.
Yet on that occasion, it was the player himself who refused to listen, making clear he had no desire to leave Barcelona regardless of the money.
Within Barça, the matter was more complicated. Some directors believed cashing in made sense, especially given the depth of options already available in midfield. But Flick saw things differently.
Ultimately, Flick’s influence tipped the balance. His determination to keep Fermin has not only saved Barça from losing one of their most promising midfielders but also sent a strong message.
