Manchester United are reportedly preparing a new onslaught on Lecce full-back Patrick Dorgu after falling short in their initial attempts.
The Red Devils are keen to bolster their left front before the end of the January transfer session. This has been one of the most troublesome positions in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation, with the tactician forced to convert his Portuguese compatriot Diogo Dalot from his original position on the right to a left wingback amidst the absence of the injured Luke Shaw and the physical woes of Tyrell Malacia.
In recent days, Dorgu has emerged as the primary candidate for the role. The club’s scouts noticed the Dane’s impressive outings in Serie A where he cemented himself as one of the most exciting young stars in the league.

Man Utd launched talks with Lecce this week, but have been unable to find an agreement with the Serie A minnows who insist on their original asking price of €40 million, whereas United’s offers have been in the region of €30 million.
But according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League giants aren’t willing to give up on the 20-year-old just yet. The negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing, and the transfer market expert reveals that the Reds will return with a new offer that includes add-ons in their attempts to bridge the gap with Lecce’s requested price.
While it remains to be seen if the English giants will be successful in their quest, Romano believes that Lecce would be happy to keep their prized asset until June when Napoli are expected to enter the fray which could spark a bidding war.
The Denmark international made 20 appearances in Serie A this season, contributing with three goals and an assist.
