Leeds got back to winning ways against Middlesbrough, but can they keep it up?
The Championship promotion race took another twist this past week, when Leeds United were the only team out of the three sides battling for two spots that managed to take three points.
In what could have been seen as an incredibly tough game against a Middlesbrough side that are back in form, Leeds took a 1-0 win away from the Riverside Stadium, whilst also having two legitimate goals disallowed for wrongly-given offside calls.
Further afield though, their nearest rivals were dropping points - Burnley could only muster up a goalless draw at Derby County, whilst Sheffield United were defeated at Bramall Lane by Millwall, their second loss on the spin after going down to Oxford United last weekend.
Leeds went back to the top of the Championship standings as a result of Tuesday's events, but there's every chance they may not be there by the end of this weekend, such is the nature of the Championship.
Preston North End will visit Elland Road this weekend, knowing that their season is pretty much done as they sit in 16th position in the Championship, and they come up against a team with everything to play for.
Paul Heckingbottom will return to his former club with a squad that will have little to no pressure on them, and that could prove dangerous for Daniel Farke and co - Leeds may need the win though to go back top of the Championship, depending on what Burnley do against Norwich City on Friday night.
And Sky Sports' lead EFL presenter David Prutton - an ex-Whites midfielder himself - has been left baffled by the twists and turns of the promotion race, but speaking exclusively to Football League World, he can see Leeds staying at the top of the pile for the rest of the campaign.
"Leeds - massive win of course, it could've been a lot more straight-forward given the fact they had two perfectly good goals disallowed," Prutton told FLW.
"It's huge in terms of the mentality, given what the weekend had brought us in the Championship, it was a real dramatic twist, wasn't it?
"For what it meant and their ability to answer some critics, I think it was huge for Leeds.
"Do I see them staying at the top? I genuinely don't know, because as we've seen, in some of these games it's hard to call what on earth is coming. Back-to-back defeats for Sheffield United, Leeds back on track and Burnley doing their thing.
"So, I can see them staying there. Do I know for definite? God knows."
When you look at all three clubs' fixtures who are in the automatic promotion battle, you'd have to say that Leeds have the better matches coming up on paper.
Preston North End are very beatable when they go away from home, whilst other home clashes with Stoke City and Bristol City are, on paper, expected Leeds wins.
Away trips to Oxford and Plymouth could be banana skins on paper, but the latter could be a match where Argyle are relegated to League One already.
