Ex-Roma defender Sebino Nela calls out Giallorossi ownership: “There is a managerial void.” | OneFootball

Former Roma defender and Hall of Famer Sebino Nela spoke about the Giallorossi’s crisis.

In an interview with Radio Romanista for Primo Tempo, Nela commented the difficult situation reigning in Trigoria.

“I went to the stadium after many months,” Nela said. “Returning to the Olimpico is always nice, the crowd is always the same.”

“As a footballer, I have always played with a full Olimpico, for those who play it gives you a great boost. For those who don’t know how to handle such pressure, it can always become a double-edged sword. Not everyone reacts well. This is also our profession.”

“American owners in Serie A? We are talking about people who come from the other side of the world, many of them didn’t know football. Especially in Italy. I have always believed that we former players can be important resources for our clubs.”

“We know perfectly well where we are and we know the fans, but a lot depends on us. We cannot think that the role in the club is due. You have to study: there are those who want to be the sporting director or the coach, today football has changed and you have to be prepared. Having said that, it is a question that I have asked myself many times.”

“I see other teams and I see someone involved, here it doesn’t happen. We are talking about big entrepreneurs who have to manage a football club, these are discussions that interest them just enough or maybe not at all. If we want to tell the truth, at the moment it seems to me that there is a managerial void.”

“I say this with regret, there are no executives anymore. Who is hosting the delegations of foreign clubs in the meetings in Europe? I believe that the names are there and they wouldn’t even cost too much. For the market I can imagine that you rely on some foreign executive or some foreign studio. I think we could do a good job, someone is very credible and someone who is recognized all over the world. There are qualified guys who have studied.”
