Danilo tries to smooth the row between Juventus fans and Dusan Vlahovic after the dire 2-2 draw with Venezia and insists he will ‘only go in January if Juve don’t want me anymore.’

The Bianconeri were trailing 2-1 at the Allianz Juventus Stadium until the 95th minute, when Vlahovic converted a penalty to snatch their fourth consecutive Serie A stalemate.

It was a totally different performance from the side that beat Manchester City here on Wednesday in the Champions League.

“This is football, we play every three days, a good performance ends there and the next game is totally different,” Danilo told Sky Sport Italia.

“We have to look within ourselves, but also be ready to give an immediate response on Tuesday, because we are on the pitch again.”

That will see Juventus take on Cagliari in the Coppa Italia Round of 16, again in Turin.

After the final whistle, the team went under the Curva to salute the fans and this resulted in a shouting match between Vlahovic and some of the ultras who were hurling insults at him.

“We haven’t talked about it, but we are all human beings. It was the heat of the moment, it’s right that our fans are frustrated and express what they feel. We players make mistakes too, but we have the utmost respect for our fans who always supported us,” noted Danilo.

“The most important thing now is to work together, figure out what we can do to improve every day for the good of Juventus.”

It is an Italian tradition for the team to go under the Curva and receive the insults of the ultras following a defeat or a disappointing result, but this is not something that generally is done elsewhere.

“There are some dynamics that need to be respected. I learned at Juventus when you win or lose, you always thank the fans for their support. As long as I am here, the culture of Juventus will be respected. If a different captain decides to do otherwise, that is up to them,” assured Danilo.

“We are all fired up after a game like this where nobody was happy. We are human beings, we have the right to make mistakes and apologise, but always showing respect between us and our fans.”

With that in mind, it has been reported that Danilo is eager to move on in January to get more playing time after falling down the pecking order at Juventus.

“I never said I wanted to leave. I never asked Juventus to terminate my contract, nor any of the other things that were written,” assured the Brazilian.

“I will only go in January if Juventus do not want me anymore. My bond with Juventus goes far beyond how many minutes I get to play. I will always be here to help the lads and the coach. This is why I am here.”
