Daniele Ghilardi discusses decision to join Roma: “I’ll give it my all.” | OneFootball

Daniele Ghilardi was unveiled as Roma’s latest signing.

The young defender released his first interview with the club shortly after the official announcement.

“This is a historic team, I will do everything to honor this kit,” said Ghilardi.

“At 22 it’s a huge responsibility because the club and the fans expect a lot, and it’s right that it should be this way. It’s a wonderful thing, and I’ll give it my all.”

“I couldn’t wait to come to Rome and take to the field in this shirt.”

“My ideal position? I’m comfortable in both a three-man and four-man defense. Left or right, I don’t have much preference, I think I can adapt.”

On his new teammates, “You can learn so much from players with so much experience. I can’t wait to train with them and learn.”

“I know Baldanzi and Pisilli from their experiences with the youth national teams, and I also know Darboe; we played together for a year at Sampdoria. I’ll definitely lean on them a little at the beginning to help me integrate better into the group.”

“The Olimpico? Last year, when I played against them, it was a huge thrill. The stadium was full, all the fans singing… even though they were against me, I have to say they gave me a boost. It’s a really nice feeling.”
