VfB Stuttgart travel to 2. Bundesliga side Eintracht Braunschweig for a midweek cup action. The first round of the DFB-Pokal tie needed a rearranged timeframe since Sebastian Hoeneß’s team were involved in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup in the cup weekend.

The hosts lost their perfect league record over the weekend in Karlsruhe. Louis Breuing was sent off in Saturday’s fixture, but the suspension will only come into effect in the last game before the international break against Arminia Bielefeld.

As for the defending champions, Hoeneß fielded a side with three changes from the defeat to Union Berlin at the start of the Bundesliga season. Nick Woltemade starts on the bench, with Chris Führich starts on the wing. Ramon Hendriks for the injured Jeff Chabot is the other change.
