Djordje Petrovic is set to leave Chelsea this summer with the goalkeeper left out of the squad for this summer’s Club World Cup.
Petrovic spent last season on loan at Strasbourg and impressed to be named as the French side’s Player of the Season.
The Serbian shot-stopper was nominated for Ligue 1’s Best Goalkeeper Award, but does not look likely to break back into Chelsea’s plans. Petrovic has not been included in the squad for the Club World Cup as he explores an exit from Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea value the 25-year-old at around £15m and Strasbourg are keen on a permanent deal.
However, there’s interest from ‘up to five clubs’ in the goalkeeper, according to The Telegraph. An issue around Petovic’s image rights could hold up an expected departure with a resolution required.
The decision to let Petrovic leave comes despite a failed bid to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan this week. Chelsea withdrew from negotiations for the France international after refusing to meet Milan’s asking price for the 29-year-old.
Chelsea currently have Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen as goalkeeping options, while highly-rated teenager Mike Penders will link up with the club from Genk this summer.
