Newly-promoted Championship side Charlton Athletic could well be outbid by League One club Huddersfield Town for Ethan Galbraith, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The Addicks have made their way back to the English second-tier under Nathan Jones and are looking to go ahead in this summer’s window.

They will need to add to their squad smartly amid competition, as former EFL winger Adrian Clarke has advised them to sign attackers.

It was suggested recently that the London-based club will take a ‘cloak and dagger’ approach to sign players in this window.

After signing Blackpool’s Sonny Carey, they have turned their attention to signing players in other positions, as Leyton Orient’s Galbraith has been linked.

The Northern Irishman, though, has suitors from League One, as Huddersfield Town are set to make a big offer for the 24-year-old.

It has been suggested that the Terriers have made a ‘remarkable’ £2.5m offer for the O’s star man, but could need to get to £3m.

And if Huddersfield do that, then it is suggested that ‘Charlton are unlikely to match’ such a proposal.

Richie Wellens’ side overperformed in the 2024-25 season and Galbraith was an extremely important part of the side, as he played 51 all-competition games.

Galbraith has an extremely versatile profile, as he featured all across the pitch for the O’s, contributing to 14 goals directly.

Charlton though would offer him the chance to step up to the Championship, while moving to Huddersfield would mean another campaign in League One.

If Leyton Orient only accept an offer from Huddersfield though that could take the ball out of the midfielder’s hands.
