Forrest was emotional in the aftermath of the result against Dundee United and could scarcely believe that he had overtaken the living legend, Bobby Lennox, in the medal count and trophy-haul. It was perfectly understandable given the gravity of the situation and just what the academy graduate had achieved, especially in the modern era where such loyalty and commitment to one club is a rare commodity.

Carter-Vickers has no doubt though that the remarkable Celtic servant deserves every congratulations going and should have his own statue one day. “We joke around with him,” he said as reported by Daily Record. “Ali [Johnston] always says to him ‘You should have a statue outside Celtic Park, you’re a legend’. You know what James is like, he’s so humble. He’s like ‘Nah, nah’ and laughs it off. But he probably is. It’s unbelievable the amount of trophies he’s won, the amount of games he’s played and goals he’s scored.

“All the stats are amazing. He’s definitely up there. James is a great guy. He talks to everybody and he’s very open and honest. But it is not talking to him. I think it’s more just how he behaves and how he acts day to day. He’s a top professional, he eats the right things, you always see him in the gym after training, stretching and stuff. You see the example by what he does rather than what he says. He’s definitely a leader in this team.”

The American admitted the the players didn’t give Jamsie a round of applause in the dressing room afterwards, as the humble Scot isn’t the type to enjoy that sort of public adoration and adulation. “Probably not, because he’s such a humble guy that he probably wouldn’t want that,” he added. “But we’re definitely all appreciative of what he’s done and the fans will appreciate what he’s done over the years.”

On the match itself, CCV said of the contest on the day: “To be fair to Dundee United, they started pretty well. They put us under a little bit of pressure, balls forward into our box, but I thought we dealt with that pretty well. And then after we scored the first, I think we started playing really well and created a lot of chances, scored a lot of goals. From that point on, really, I thought we were dominating and the game was there for us to win.”

When quizzed on whether that special feeling still overtakes him on these occasions after winning so many since coming to Scotland, he continued: “Yeah, definitely. For me, the league is the most important. Winning the league shows that throughout the season, the effort you put in, the consistency that you’ve shown, and you only get to lift that if you deserve it. So, yeah, definitely for me, it’s a special feeling and something to be proud of.”

“At Celtic, I think any time you don’t win a trophy, it’s a disappointment because we know the expectations and we’re ready to win. But at the same time, you’ve got to cherish the trophies you do win because as much as people say that Celtic should win, they’re the best team and all that kind of stuff, you’ve still got to do it and that’s the hard part. It’s not easy. It’s definitely not easy. You can’t just turn it on and win games. You’ve got to be consistent in your work and in your training every day. That’s the only way you can do it.”

Cameron also touched on the unique mentality that’s required to succeed at this football club, with the need to be on it every single day a key factor. He added: “That’s a tough question. Obviously Celtic is a unique club to play for and you need a unique mindset for it. I’ve definitely had to adapt to that. But I’d say probably within the first few months, I knew what the club is all about and what is demanded. Now it’s just about trying to continue that and put my best foot forward.”
