Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Chelsea at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League this past weekend.

It was a disappointing performance from Tottenham, who were 2-0 up after just 11 minutes. Ange Postecoglou’s side then collapsed in the London derby and eventually lost the Premier League match 4-3.

Tottenham were defensively disappointing against Chelsea, just as they have been all season. The North London club have conceded 19 goals in 15 Premier League matches this campaign, and that needs to improve.

One player whom Gabriel Agbonlahor does not blame for Tottenham’s collapse against Chelsea is Fraser Forster. The former Aston Villa striker has included the Spurs goalkeeper in his Premier League Team of the Week.

The talkSPORT pundit has noted the number of important saves Forster made against Chelsea. The former Southampton goalkeeper denied Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, Jadon Sancho and Malo Gusto.

Gabriel Agbonlahor praises Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Fraser Forster

Agbonlahor said about Forster on talkSPORT: “The first player is Fraser Forster. I know you might look at that and say conceded four goals, but without him, it would have been eight or nine.

“He was making save after save, and very good saves as well. There was a couple from Palmer and Sancho and others.

“I just feel that he is not the best with his feet, but I think he’s 6ft 7in and he really makes it count in goal. He deserves to be in the Team of the Week.”

Fraser Forster has stepped up in Guglielmo Vicario’s absence

Guglielmo Vicario is the first-choice goalkeeper for Tottenham, but the Italian is injured now, which is why Forster is getting his chances.

Forster has done well in the absence of Vicario and stepped up his game. The 36-year-old is a hugely experienced goalkeeper who has turned out for the likes of Celtic and Southampton among other major clubs.

The Englishman is a reliable goalkeeper who makes good and important saves. Defenders feel comfortable with Forster behind them.

In 151 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career, Forster has kept 45 clean sheets.
