‘Reckless, nobody even complains’ – Troy Deeney tears 22y/o Spurs players into shreds after what he did v Chelsea | OneFootball

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr made a poor challenge on Cole Palmer in Sunday’s 4-3 loss to Chelsea in the Premier League.

Spurs took an early 2-0 lead inside 15 minutes, but they were the architect of their own downfall after conceding two penalties in the second half.

Around the 83rd minute, when the scoreline was 3-2 in Chelsea’s favour, Spurs were still in the game, but a poor challenge on Palmer inside the box ended all hopes.

Sarr and Yves Bissouma, who brought down Moises Caicedo with a wild lunge, were shockingly poor throughout the game.

Troy Deeney said on Match of the Day 2 that it was a “reckless” challenge from the midfielder, and not a single Spurs player complained about the decision.

“This point (for the fourth goal). It’s 3-2. You’re still in the game,” said Deeney.

“Chelsea are now between do we go for it or do we keep the ball. Palmer got away from goal. But look at that, that’s reckless. No one even complains.”

Jadon Sancho could have played the ball the first time, but he dithered, and it took Palmer away from the goal.

However, Sarr, 22, made a horrendous challenge on the Chelsea winger inside the box. Palmer produced an ice-cool ‘Panenka’ to take the game away from Spurs.

By the time Son Heung-min added their third in stoppage time, the game was already over, and it was just a mere consolation in the end.

Spurs made a breathtaking start at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but once again, they were the victims of their own downfall.

At this level, you’d expect these players to get the basics right, but Spurs were really poor in almost every department. Destiny Udogie was shocking at the back, while Son Heung-Min and Dominic Solanke missed golden opportunities to score.
