The 2024-25 season has been far from ideal for Manchester United and their supporters, given their lacklustre league campaign.

Even so, there have been moments that have given United fans hope, none more so than the inspirational leadership of Bruno Fernandes, who has stepped up massively to carry the team.

Amidst United’s struggles on the pitch, Bruno has emerged as a beacon of consistency, delivering quality performances and repeatedly rescuing his side when needed.

With 19 goals and 19 assists in 54 appearances, the Portuguese skipper has been nothing short of sensational.

Since making the switch from Sporting CP, he has only surpassed this season’s tally once, back in 2020-21, when he racked up 28 goals and 17 assists in 58 games.

Given his remarkable impact, it is hardly surprising that fans have voted him their Player of the Season.

On Friday, the club announced, while congratulating him, that Bruno had claimed the prestigious Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award.

Fernandes equals Ronaldo and De Gea with fourth United player of the season win

Remarkably, this marks his fourth time winning the accolade, having previously lifted it in 2020, 2021, and 2024.

With this latest triumph, the playmaker joins elite company, sitting alongside compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo and David De Gea as the only other Red Devils to have won the award four times.

In the polls, Amad Diallo secured second place, while the ever-reliable Harry Maguire came third.

With the Player of the Season award now in the bag, it remains to be seen whether this serves as the extra motivation Bruno needs to inspire United to Europa League glory.

The Portuguese maestro has already been a standout performer in Europe, registering seven goals and five assists, making him joint-top scorer alongside Olympiacos’ Ayoub El Kaabi.

Now, all eyes turn to next Wednesday’s Europa League final at San Mamés, Bilbao, where United fans will be hoping for another magical display, perhaps reminiscent of the Real Sociedad hat-trick Bruno, to take them past Tottenham Hotspur for a glorious night on the grand stage.
