Inter Milan continue to explore the market in search of a new defender, and Robert Renan has reportedly landed on the club’s ever-growing shortlist.

The Nerazzurri are feeling the need to add a left-footed center-back to their ranks now that Carlos Augusto will return to act as a left wingback due to Tajon Buchanan’s injury.

The Italian champions have been keeping tabs on a host of profiles after missing out on Juventus new signing Juan Cabal.

The list includes experienced free agents Mario Hermoso and Ricardo Rodriguez. However, the club’s owners Oaktree Capital would prefer a younger profile.

Therefore, news reports have been linking the Serie A giants with Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior and Genoa’s Johan Vazquez among others.

Nevertheless, Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has now revealed a new name on the list.

The transfer market guru claims Inter are considering a move for Robert Renan.

The 20-year-old is a youth product of Corinthians who joined Zenit St.Petersburg in January 2023.

Last winter, he made his return to his home country in a loan move to Internacional. This temporary stint will last until the end of the year.

The young defender’s contract with the Russian club is valid until June 2028.

But as Di Marzio explains, signing Renan could be a costly operation for the Nerazzurri.

Therefore, the management must decide whether they’re willing to make an important financial sacrifice for the young defender.

The Zenit starlet primarily plays as a central defender, but can also feature as a left-back. Hence, he could be the right profile to serve as Alessandro Bastoni’s understudy.

The Brasilia native has already represented his national team on the U18, U20 and U23 levels.

He was also called up for Brazil’s first team and sat on the bench on three occasions in 2023, but has yet to make his senior international debut
