A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week been forced to pull out of international duty with Spain.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Héctor Fort as the player in question.
Defender Fort is for his part fresh off something of a disappointing opening to the new campaign.
Tipped to play a prominent role in the first-team setup of new head coach Hansi Flick, the talented full-back is yet to be afforded a single minute of La Liga playing time.
This did not prevent Fort from being called up for national team duty this week, though, handed a place in the Spanish U19 setup.
And yet, upon the country’s young stars convening in Torrelodones this week, the 18-year-old was nowhere to be seen.
As per the aforementioned MD, this comes with Fort struggling with a virus, which has in turn caused a skin rash.
Fort, as a result, has remained in Barcelona for treatment, but was also deemed not well enough to take part in training with the rest of Hansi Flick’s squad on Wednesday.
