Braga currently sit fourth in the Portuguese table behind the traditional gigantic trio of Sporting CP, Benfica and Porto, so they could be considered the best of the rest. However, the ‘Arsenalists’ have been enduring rough times in Europe this season, as they find themselves in a mediocre 27th place in the Europa League table.
The Braguistas have only collected seven points in as many fixtures, registering two wins, a draw and four defeats. Hence. the Portuguese will be desperate for a victory that may or may not be sufficient to break into the Top 24, as it also hinges on other results.
While their opponents are faced with European elimination, Lazio can sit comfortably on their perch, knowing they have already secured a direct route to the Round of 16.
Marco Baroni’s men have encountered some difficulties on the domestic stage as of late, with their latest setback coming in the shape of a defeat to Fiorentina. Nevertheless, their continental outings have been almost flawless.
Lazio are currently on top of the table, and will likely maintain their spot regardless of the result thanks to a 3-point edge over their closest rival and a solid goal difference. Nevertheless, the Aquile will want to return home with a positive result, even if merely for the bragging rights.
Unfortunately, Baroni’s starting lineup against Braga will almost pick itself as Lazio head to Portugal without 12 first-team players.
Braga (3-4-2-1): Matheus; Bambu, Oliveira, Niakate; Fernandes, Marques, Gorby, Martinez; Gharbi, Horta; Ouazzani.
Lazio (4-2-3-1): Mandas; Marusic, Gigot, Romagnoli, Pellegrini; Mario Gila, Dele-Bashiru; Tchaouna, Pedro, Noslin; Taty Castellanos.
