Lazio have reportedly turned to Bologna midfielder Giavanni Fabbian as they could be about to raise the white flag on their attempts to sign Cesare Casadei.
The Biancocelesti have been eager to sign the Chelsea midfielder for weeks, but it has been quite a challenging task. The latest updates in this soap opera suggest the deal could be dead in the water, with Torino edging ever closer to the finish line. Therefore, Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani have now decided to resort to an alternative option.
According to Italian journalist Damiano Er Faina, Lazio have knocked on Bologna’s door offering an exchange of loans that would see Loum Tchaouna heading to the Renato Dall’Ara and Fabbian making the opposite move. Gianluca Di Marzio also weighs in on this proposed swap deal, claiming that the Biancocelesti expect to close an agreement in the coming hours.
Like Casadei, Fabbian is a 22-year-old midfielder who rose through the ranks of Inter Milan. The Italy U21 starlet was bought by the Rossoblu in 2023 and enjoyed a solid campaign under Thiago Motta’s tutelage, but has seen his playing time reduced this term with Vincenzo Italiano in charge. The Nerazzurri still have an option to buy him back from Bologna at the end of the season.
Likewise, Tchaouna hasn’t been able to cement himself as a regular starter at Marco Baroni’s court this term, as Gustav Isaksen remains the main choice on the right wing. Nevertheless, the 21-year-old winger could be useful for Bologna who will be without the injured Riccardo Orsolini for a month or so, while Dan Ndoye could be heading to Napoli.
