Dani Olmo has been one of the top performers in the ongoing Euro 2024, with the playmaker’s blazing performances helping Spain secure a berth in the final.

Olmo’s performances in Euro 2024, coupled with his contract situation at RB Leipzig has made him a sought-after prospect in the transfer market.

Barcelona are among the clubs interested in acquiring the services of Olmo, who has a release clause valued at around €60 million. Premier League clubs, too, are interested in getting their hands on the Spanish international this summer.

The initial deadline for Olmo’s release clause at RB Leipzig was July 15, but following Spain’s entry into the Euro 2024 final, the deadline has reportedly been increased to five days.

However, despite links to Barcelona and England, Dani Olmo could be set for a prolonged stay in Germany.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Bayern Munich appear to be the frontrunner in the race to sign the Spanish international.

Having lost their Bundesliga dominance to Bayer Leverkusen last season, Bayern seem determined to reclaim the title and view Olmo as a key piece in their rebuild.

On the other hand, reports suggest Premier League giants Liverpool and Chelsea have also expressed interest in the 26-year-old attacking midfielder.

However, according to sources close to Olmo, the lack of concrete action from Spain’s big two clubs, Barcelona and Real Madrid, has left the door wide open for Bayern Munich to swoop in.

What’s next for Barcelona?

Despite Olmo’s clear desire for a move and his attractive price tag, Barcelona finds itself hamstrung by financial fair play regulations. This has forced them to prioritize their transfer targets very carefully.

Everything suggests the Catalans will pass on the opportunity to sign Olmo, as they have reportedly set their sights on another Spanish international Nico Williams.

The Athletic Club starlet’s synergy with Lamine Yamal, coupled with his age profile make him an appealing target for Barça.

However, in order to acquire the services of Nico, Barcelona must soon get their finances in order. The sale of one of their star players could be a step in the right direction.
