An up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week seen his release clause heavily cut.

That’s according to Relevo, who point towards Álex Valle as the player in question.

Left-back Valle, for his part, secured a return to Catalunya’s capital earlier this summer, after a season out on loan with Levante.

The expectation, initially, was that the 20-year-old would be afforded a place back in the first-team ranks at Barcelona for the campaign ahead, to act as backup to first-choice Alejandro Balde.

To date, however, Valle has not been registered for La Liga 2024/25.

And, owing to as much, the brass at the Camp Nou have taken something of a risk.

As per a report from Relevo, ‘if he was not registered as a first-team player before July 31, Valle’s release clause would be reduced from €30 million, to just €3 million’.

Not only that, but this development has already been identified as a market opportunity by a number of Spanish clubs, who have earmarked Valle as a potentially fruitful cut-price signing.

It now remains to be seen whether or not the defender himself has any interest in a Barcelona exit.
