Following a successful campaign in which they won three trophies, Hansi Flick’s FC Barcelona will begin preparations for the next season in July.

The Blaugrana players will reconvene at the club facilities to begin the pre-season on July 13, shortly after which they will be on the flight to Asia for the pre-season tour.

Barcelona expect €15 million in revenue

Now, according to AS, Barcelona are set to receive a fixed fee of €15 million from their pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea.

The figure could rise further depending on some variables, with a total revenue of €20 million likely in the best-case scenario.

Barça take on club legend Andres Iniesta’s former club, Vissel Kobe, on July 27 in Japan before travelling to South Korea where they face FC Seoul on July 31 and Daegu FC on August 4.

Recently, there has been talk of the possibility of holding an open training session in Bahrain prior to landing in Japan, which could mean additional revenue, although it remains to be seen if the Catalans go ahead with it.

In comparison, the likes of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are set to earn around €35 million and €20 million, respectively, just for participating in the FIFA Club World Cup in the USA. If either team goes on to win the tournament, the earnings could go as high as €150 million.

Barcelona, without a doubt, would have welcomed such an opportunity which would provide them with a huge boost in their Financial Fair Play situation.

On the flip side, though, not being in the competition means Flick & co. will be able to prepare better, carrying out a typical pre-season similar to that of previous years, and arrive at the start of the season with the players at their best and with less wear and tear.
