Barcelona have made a clear decision regarding Andreas Christensen’s future and it does not involve him staying at the club.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Danish defender is not in the team’s plans for the upcoming season, and while a summer exit seems the most realistic outcome, no concrete offers have landed on the table yet.
The centre-back will not be travelling with the squad for their pre-season tour of Asia, along with Oriol Romeu and Pau Victor, signalling his uncertain status.
This move is not entirely surprising, as Barcelona are dealing with an overcrowded defence and are unwilling to carry five central defenders going into the new campaign.
Barcelona currently have four top centre-backs in Eric Garcia, Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez, and Ronald Araujo.

With this group forming the core of Hansi Flick’s defensive setup, there is simply no room left for Christensen, who is unfortunately the one being phased out.
Meanwhile, it must also be taken into account that injuries have significantly affected Christensen’s role at the club. Over the last year, he has struggled to maintain consistent fitness, and as a result, he has dropped further down the pecking order.
Despite his quality and past performances, his lack of playing time and fitness concerns have made it difficult for him to make a strong case for inclusion in the first-team plans.
Barcelona have reportedly made peace with the idea of parting ways with the 29-year-old. While there have been no publicised offers yet, the expectation is that clubs will come knocking as the transfer window progresses.
For now, it is clear that Christensen is no longer viewed as part of the long-term vision at the club, and a summer move remains a very real possibility.
