Barcelona ‘reach full agreement’ for defender signing | OneFootball

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Monday closed a deal for a fresh addition to the club’s defensive ranks.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Mamadou Mbacke as the player in question.

Defender Mbacke, for his part, spent this past season on loan in Catalunya’s capital, from MLS outfit Los Angeles FC.

And the Senegalese went on to play a starring role for Rafa Márquez’s Barca Atlètic, forming a stellar partnership with the much-discussed Mikayil Faye.

A recent injury blow, however, saw reports mount that Mbacke’s continuation in La Liga beyond the summer had been thrown firmly up in the air.

The 21-year-old suffered a complete tear of the internal lateral ligament in his left ankle in May, forced under the knife as a result.

Upon Mbacke taking to social media to announce his Barcelona departure, the widespread understanding, in turn, was that the parties were indeed set to go their separate ways.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word to have surfaced in the media on Monday is anything to go by, then a sudden shift in the situation appears to be on the cards.

As per a report from Sport:

‘FC Barcelona has reached a full agreement with Los Angeles FC in the last few hours for the transfer of Mamadou Mbacke , who will become the property of the Blaugrana team after playing on loan at Barça Atlètic this past season.’

The deal in question is understood to have come in around the €2 million mark, with Los Angeles also in line to secure a percentage of any future sale.

With a verbal agreement in place, all that now remains is for the necessary paperwork to be drawn up, and signed.
