The future of Hector Fort points towards a departure from FC Barcelona in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.
The La Masia right-back is not in Hansi Flick’s plans for the season, and it has been made clear to him that an exit might be the best way forward.
Despite that, Fort, thus far, has appeared indecisive on his next step and has been hesitant about leaving his boyhood club.
Now, though, according to Mundo Deportivo, both Fort and his entourage believe the best option is for him to leave Barcelona for a club where he can gain regular playing time and continue developing.
Barcelona, for their part, prioritise a loan move in order to retain control over the teenage full-back, whom they regard as having the potential to be an important player in the future.

Mallorca in La Liga and Como in Serie A have both shown interest in Fort, as have several Premier League clubs, although none have yet submitted a formal offer for the Barcelona academy graduate.
A factor that could influence Fort’s departure is his likely call-up to the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will take place in Chile between 27 September and 19 October.
Should Paco Gallardo select him, Fort would miss a month of competition, a detail that may deter some clubs currently tracking his situation. Despite this, all signs indicate that a move is imminent.
There had also been an option for Fort to use the Under-20 World Cup as a showcase while still a Barcelona player, with the possibility of arranging a loan in the January window.
However, all parties now agree that the best path for his development is to leave in the final days of the summer transfer window and find a club where he can prove his ability over a full season.
