Hansi Flick has expressed satisfaction with Barcelona’s progress, especially after the challenging period they faced toward the end of the previous year.
The team’s recent achievements, such as winning the Spanish Super Cup, a dominant 7-1 victory over Valencia, and securing a top-2 spot in the Champions League, have certainly provided a boost.
However, there remains a significant concern that Flick is still grappling with—goals conceded. This issue has become a persistent problem that he can’t overlook, even though the team has improved in other areas.
Flick’s frustration was evident when Barcelona conceded a second goal to Atalanta. His reaction on the bench showed his anger and disappointment.
Although he refrained from blaming individual players, the defensive mistakes cannot be ignored, and the issue seems to be worsening with each passing match.
Despite a change in goalkeeping personnel, with Wojciech Szczesny taking over from Iñaki Peña in La Liga and the Champions League, the situation has not improved. Barcelona’s defensive woes persist.

The team has now conceded in six consecutive matches since their 2-0 win over Athletic Club in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final in Jeddah.
During these six games, Barcelona conceded a total of 11 goals, despite scoring 25 goals themselves. The team has remained unbeaten in these fixtures, securing four wins and two draws.
Looking solely at La Liga, Barcelona have conceded goals in 10 consecutive matches. The inability to keep clean sheets in these games has cost Barcelona valuable points, with losses to teams like Real Sociedad, Las Palmas, Leganes, and Atletico Madrid.
Taking a broader look at the overall record since the start of the season, it is clear that Barcelona’s main issue lies in conceding goals in so many matches.
Out of the 33 games played across all competitions, Barcelona have only managed to keep a clean sheet in eight of them.
The problem is not solely with the goalkeepers but rather with the overall defensive system, which Flick must address if Barcelona are to improve defensively and challenge for the top honours.
