Sunday night has brought news that an agreement between Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United is close.

Craig Hope of The Mail reports that the fine details are still being worked on to bring the deal to completion.

Without elaborating, the man from The Mail also states that the situation is ‘complicated’, as United hope to get their first major summer signing over the line.

I think that when you have a situation where clearly a club doesn’t want to sell one of their very best players to a Premier League rival, then ‘complicated’ is always going to be a likely description.

My conclusion is that Anthony Elanga is definitely up for joining Newcastle United and now it is a case of United reaching agreement with Forest, without them having our eyes out.

Anthony Elanga clearly has close relationships with a number of Newcastle United players, such as Alexander Isak and Will Osula, with plenty of hints on their social media interaction that the winger is more than open to moving to Tyneside.

I think a point will surely be reached when Nottingham Forest accept they have to get a deal done for Anthony Elanga to move on to Newcastle United, to then allow themselves to move on and use that extra finance to bring in targets of their own, including an Anthony Elanga replacement.
