A relegation playoff will take place at the end of the season to determine the final team in the 2026-27 WSL season. This will be played between the 12th-placed team in the WSL and the third-placed team in WSL2.

Ultimately, this could mean that no team gets relegated from the top-flight of women’s football this season.

From 2026-27, two teams will be relegated from and promoted to the WSL.
