The countdown to this summer's UEFA Women's EURO continues. After highlighting seven potential Player of the Tournament winners yesterday, we mark six days to go with a look at six potential Golden Boot winners ...

  1. 2024/25 WSL (Arsenal): 21 apps, 12 goals
  2. International: 22 goals in 50 England caps

No player scored more WSL goals than Russo last season and she added a further seven in the Women's Champions League.

A striker who has great movement in behind, can hold the ball up, and is calm in front of goal, she should have plenty of service for England and has impressed in previous tournaments, scoring four goals at EURO 2022 and three at the 2023 World Cup.

Ewa Pajor (Poland)

  1. 2024/25 Liga F (Barcelona): 28 appearances, 25 goals
  2. International: 67 goals in 101 Poland caps

It will be a big ask for Pajor to strike consistently at Poland's first ever major tournament in the women's game, but if anyone is capable it's the Barcelona star.

She can create as well, but it's Pajor's nose for goals — and her variety when it comes to scoring them — that have helped her dominate defences in Liga F and the Frauen-Bundesliga domestically as well as bigger tests in the Women's Champions League.

Alexia Putellas (Spain)

  1. 2024‑25 Liga F (Barcelona): 24 appearances, 16 goals
  2. International: 34 goals in 131 Spain caps

Spain have plenty of contenders here, with Putellas's club team-mates Claudia Pina and Salma Paralluelo offering Spain a little more directness and pace when they get on the pitch, but there's every chance the two-time Ballon d'Or winner is the one firing them to glory from midfield.

Alexia's goal record in Liga F is phenomenal but it's not something she's quite managed to translate to the biggest international stages just yet. After missing out on Euro 2022 and playing a bit-part at the 2023 World Cup, she is a huge part of Spain's rise to the top of the game yet hasn't been at the heart of any of their major tournament runs. It would be fitting to see her bring her best form to Switzerland.

Lea Schüller (Germany)

  1. 2024‑25 Bundesliga (Bayern Munich): 22 appearances, 11 goals
  2. International: 52 goals in 75 caps

Headers, left foot, right foot, calm finishes, poaching in the box. Lea Schüller is a proper centre-forward. Often a sub for Bayern last season, with Pernille Harder often leading the line, her record may look modest but she actually scored a goal every 116 minutes in the league.

Schüller boasts an outstanding record at international level but only two goals at international tournaments, with a further three at the 2023 Olympic Games. It's time for her to truly step up in Alex Popp's place.

Marie-Antoinette Katoto (France)

  1. 2024‑25 Division 1 (PSG): 19 appearances, 12 goals
  2. International: 37 goals in 53 caps

Katoto played just twice in 2022, missed the 2023 World Cup before scoring five goals in four games at the Olympics last summer.

The 26-year-old can pull off all types of finishes and is always alert in the box and ready to react. Defenders will have their hands full containing her.

Stina Blackstenius (Sweden)

  1. 2024‑25 WSL (Arsenal): 19 appearances, 5 goals
  2. International: 38 goals in 116 caps

Blackstenius is a proven tournament striker and Sweden's direct approach suits her excellent movement in behind. The scorer of the winning goal in May's Women's Champions League final, Blackstenius was yet again in the right place at the right time in Lisbon, and though she may not be the most clinical striker, it's that timing and reading of the game that means she gets on the end of plenty of chances.

Her goal record doesn't look as great as others on the list, but she has scored 8 in 13 for Sweden since the start of 2024. Splitting her entire international career in half, she scored 14 in her first 58 caps but has 24 in her last 58 caps and, including the Olympics, she has 11 goals at major tournaments.
