Chelsea are back on level terms with Real Betis in Poland!

They were poor in the first half, have upped their game a little in the second, but even then have got pretty lucky to grab a goal here despite not having asked too many questions of the Andalusians’ defence up until now.

It was a combination of two moments of brilliance from Chelsea players that did it. Cole Palmer waited for Noni Madueke to draw a defender away from him with an overlap, but instead of playing the simple ball to his winger, decided to take the risky option and swing a ball into the box instead.

He picked out Enzo Fernandez, who had kept up his recent trend of runs from midfield. Fernandez did so well to get in between two defenders and win the header past Adrian.

Cole Palmer’s cross for Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea now have the momentum and the belief. They’ve got their best players on the pitch, following the introduction of Levi Colwill and Reece James at the back… and they’ve scored a second!

Palmer was once again given so much time and space down the right – he turned back on himself a couple of times then found himself with a yard of space to swing one in to Nicolas Jackson.

It was a very Jackson finish – he closed his eyes and the ball hit his chest and bounced in. But they all count.

When you’ve got a player like Palmer on the pitch, you’ve always got a chance of creating something from nothing.
