Milan reportedly have a preliminary agreement on personal terms with Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker, who could be allowed to leave the Etihad on a free transfer this month, but there are still a few steps missing before the Rossoneri complete the deal.

According to reports from Calciomercato.com, Milan have a ‘draft’ agreement on personal terms with Walker for a two-and-a-half year contract worth 4m per season in wages.

Other reports on Friday suggest that Milan are ready to go all out for the Englishman, and possibly also for Chelsea’s Joao Felix, if the club are unable to complete a deal with Manchester United for Marcus Rashford.

What needs to happen for Milan to sign Walker from Man City

Friday’s report suggest that there are two hurdles the Rossoneri need to overcome before getting a full agreement with City for Walker.

Firstly, Walker needs to arrange his exit from the Etihad.

It is understood that City will allow him to leave on a free transfer as a gesture of goodwill after six Premier League title wins in his seven-and-a-half years in Manchester, but the formalities of terminating his contract still need to be completed first.

There is also an obstacle to overcome on Milan’s end in regard to space in the squad.

The fact that Walker is a British citizen is no problem for Milan: They are still able to register one British player this season, but the club’s Serie A squad is currently full.

That means that Milan need to either sell a current first-team player, or drop somebody from their Serie A squad if they are to register Walker in January.
