Trent Alexander-Arnold is facing a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury during Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, meaning that he is likely to miss England’s Nations League doubler-header next week.

The right-back hobbled off in the 25th minute and was replaced by Connor Bradley.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot indicated that the 26-year-old is unlikely to feature in England’s upcoming Nations League matches.

Speaking post-match, Slot said: “It is difficult to say how serious it is, but it is always serious if a player goes out in the first half.

“I would be surprised if we will see him playing for the England national team this week but hopefully he can.”

The injury has now been assessed and Alexander-Arnold will be absent for at least a couple of weeks, Paul Joyce from the Athletic reports.

The 26 year old has been pivotal for the Three lions under interim boss Carsley and has been named man of the match in all three of England’s victories under him.

Despite this setback, there remains optimism that he could be available for Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Southampton on November 24.
