Alexander-Arnold ruled out for England with hamstring injury | OneFootball

Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to miss England’s upcoming games with Greece and the Republic of Ireland with a hamstring injury.

Alexander-Arnold was substituted during Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday and will take no part in the Nations League clashes this month.

His absence is a major blow to interim boss Lee Carsley, with the 26-year-old having won the man-of-the-match accolade in three of his last four appearances for England.

The issue is set to sideline Alexander-Arnold for a ‘couple of weeks’, according to The Times, and he could return in time for Liverpool’s Premier League fixture at Southampton on November 24th. His early substitution against Aston Villa ‘avoided more serious damage’.

Arne Slot will hope Alexander-Arnold can make a swift recovery, ahead of Liverpool’s looming clashes against Real Madrid (November 27th) and Manchester City (December 1st).

It remains to be seen whether England call up a replacement for Alexander-Arnold, with Kyle Walker, Rico Lewis and Ezri Konsa all options to deputise at right-back.

The Three Lions, who trail Greece by three points with two games to go, travel to Athens to face the leaders on Thursday before hosting the Republic of Ireland at Wembley on Sunday.
